BOOKS
A Year on The Devil's Backbone is
loosely based on George O. Ten
Eyck's memories of growing up in
Sandy, OR. Everything begins on
December 8, 1941, and follows the
exploits of a young man who has to cut
too much firewood, is not sure how to
talk to the love of his life, and wonders
why humans fight wars.
Silencing the Rose is based on
observations of the art scene in
Lansing, MI. Jacqueline Kaltz and I
decided the best way to tell the story
was through the eyes of a frustrated
artist who turns to graffiti to be heard.
